Synopsis :
Embark with Nicolas into the heart of Kenya’s arid and majestic landscapes, where agropastoralism is reinventing itself in the face of climate change. Nicolas meets the Boranas pastoral community, who, faced with dwindling resources and increasing drought, are making a fascinating transition from herds of cows, vulnerable to these extreme conditions, to dromedaries, far more resilient.
To better understand the challenges of this adaptation, Nicolas takes to the skies with his paraglider, flying over the immense plains and the migrating herds. This unobstructed view enables him to grasp the extent of the transformations underway, and to invite local leaders to share their experiences. On the ground, he plunges into the daily lives of herders and discovers how they combine ancestral traditions, technological innovation and extraordinary resilience to preserve their livelihoods.
Back in central-western France, in the heart of the plains and bocages, he wondered how the experience with the Boranas could help breeders in this region to adapt their practices in the face of drought and heatwaves. Here, we’re already seeing the introduction of more resistant forages, such as sorghum or alfalfa, and crossbreeding of cattle breeds combining hardiness and productivity, such as the Maraîchine and Brahmane. But it’s possible to go even further in these strategies, combining tradition and innovation, which show exemplary resilience in the face of growing climatic challenges.
Between aerial adventures and enriching encounters, this destination offers a new perspective on ecology: positive, inventive and profoundly human. An invitation to explore how one person’s adaptation can inspire another’s solutions.

To go further : explore the changemakers
- INRAE – OASYS Project in France: this agroecological dairy system was co‑designed with farmers and stakeholders and implemented on an INRAE research platform. It aims to create climate-adapted, low-input dairy farms by integrating diversified forage crops, fodder trees and grazing strategies—all without irrigation or chemical nitrogen fertilisers. More than just a demonstration farm, it’s a living laboratory that combines ecological resilience, sustainable production and participatory research.
- Discover the Energy Access Program at Schneider Electric : Launched in 2009, Schneider Electric’s Access to Energy Program aims to bring clean, reliable electricity to underserved areas around the world. To date, it has impacted over 56 million people, supporting more than 10 000 local entrepreneurs and training over 1 million professionals in energy management. Through a mix of solar products (like Mobiya lamps, Homaya home systems and Villaya collective solutions), impact investing (via the SEEA fund) and vocational training, the program targets energy poverty and supports inclusive local development
